This week is still in progress, but I have been busy trying to get my drafts of cover letters and resume letters drafted and sent to the student employment services office for review. I want them to look nice and be sufficiently well-formatted and full of information useful to employers.
Other items for this week and the next:
- Meet with client
- Get top-level directory site running
- Plan to meet with my second client, a nonprofit
- Look for a third client on LinkedIn
…
By the end of the week, I had signed off on the project scope for my first client, and finished my cover letter and resume. Both were more challenging than I had anticipated but in different ways.
The project scope document went very well. The main thing that caused trouble is that due to the weather, the client and I had to meet virtually, and then signing the documents and sending them was a little bit more of a nuisance. I learned that I need to give ample room for signatures when preparing for digital signatures. After signing the document, we immediately got started on the first phase of the plan, which was content planning. We got a lot done, and I have a lot more we need to do before next week.
The resume document was a bit more difficult because I did not communicate with the school employment offices early enough to get feedback before the due date, but the office had very good advice on what to add, remove, and tweak.
I will continue to move forward with finding more clients, taking the next steps with the project I have, and finishing the assignments for this class.
